Motor City re-ups ACS for ticket processing

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. won a contract renewal from the city of Detroit to continue processing parking tickets and collecting related fines.

In addition, ACS of Dallas will upgrade two systems that read license-plate characters to help the city more easily identify scofflaws. The contract is valued at $3.7 million.

Under an amendment included in the renewal, the company will also begin processing Department of Administration Hearings environmental and building and safety violations. This additional scope of work will earn ACS $665,000 per year in revenue.

ACS offers business process and IT outsourcing services to the government and commercial sectors. The company, which has more than 55,000 employees and had annual sales of $4.3 billion in fiscal 2005, ranks No. 48 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of federal IT contractors.
