CACI to deploy GIS for defense intelligence

CACI International Inc. won a two-year, $33 million task order to furnish geographic information system technology services to the Defense Intelligence Agency through the Army Communications-Electronics Research, Development and Engineering Center.

Under the task order, CACI of Arlington, Va., will help the DIA incorporate geographic information systems technology, data sources, analytical techniques and advanced visualization technology into the agency's Urban Analysis Center battle laboratory and the Defense Department's Intelligence Information System.

The DOD's system is a global network that connects data providers, analysts and others who use intelligence in decision-making.

The task order was awarded under the Strategic Services Sourcing (S3) contract, a 10-year, $19.3 billion program that provides engineering, logistics and acquisition service support for Army command, control, communication, computer, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems.

CACI was one of seven companies selected by the Army's Communications-Electronics Life Cycle Management Command at Fort Monmouth, N.J., in March to compete for tasks under the contract.

CACI has about 10,450 employees and had annual revenue of more $1.6 billion in fiscal 2005. The company ranks No. 13 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of federal IT prime contractors.
