SAIC buys Geo-Spatial Technologies

Science Applications International Corp. completed its acquisition of Geo-Spatial Technologies Inc. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition will boost the San Diego integrator's capabilities in systems development and integration for urban warfare and homeland security applications and operations, the company said.

Privately held Geo-Spatial Technologies, which has offices in Springfield, Va., and Seattle, specializes in geospatial technology for advanced 3-D imaging, reconnaissance, remote sensing and mapping systems. The company has developed systems that apply airborne, vehicle-based and terrestrial sensors for mapping urban terrain and structures.

The company's 45 employees will transfer to SAIC's technology, research and integration business unit.

SAIC has more than 43,000 employees and had annual revenue of about $7.2 billion for fiscal 2005. The company ranks No. 3 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list of federal prime contractors. The 2006 Top 100 list will be published May 15.
