AT&T wins two military network support deals

AT&T Government Solutions won two new contracts with the U.S. military totaling nearly $8 million.

Under a three-year contract worth $4.8 million, AT&T will conduct a LAN upgrade for the Army and Air Force Exchange Services, a joint-service military organization that serves both the Army and Air Force.

AT&T Corp. will provide LAN upgrades to address Army and Air Force Exchange Services requirements for headquarters, disaster recovery and call center operations.

The Army and Air Force Exchange Services, which is headquartered in Dallas, has a twofold mission: to deliver merchandise and services at competitive prices and to generate earnings to augment military morale, welfare and recreation programs.

Under a nine-month, $3 million contract, AT&T will manage a program to supply and install spare Nortel Networks networking equipment for existing communications networks on Air Force bases.

The task was awarded under the NetCents contract, which allows the Air Force and other government agencies to purchase net-centric technology and equipment as well as systems engineering and other capabilities that support the Air Force's Global Information Grid architecture. AT&T is a subcontractor to Northrop Grumman Corp. on the NetCents contract.

AT&T Government Solutions is based in Vienna, Va. The company ranks No. 31 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list of federal IT prime contractors. The 2006 Top 100 list will be released May 15.
