Tyler stakes out Utah land records work

Seven Utah counties have hired Tyler Technologies Inc. to install an integrated land records software solution in a deal worth more than $3 million.

Under the contracts, Tyler of Dallas will integrate its EagleSoftware integrated land records solution to tightly integrate various county recorders, clerks, assessors, auditors and treasurer's offices. The company also will furnish ongoing maintenance and support for the products.

The seven counties, which belong to Utah's Multi County Computer Trust, are Iron, Juab, Kane, Millard, Sevier, Summit and Washington.

Several of the counties also purchased Tyler's financial software solution. The contracts also include a number of Tyler's other software applications, including those aimed at assessors, auditors and treasurers.

Tyler's software package, all built on the same open systems Java-based framework, offers built-in workflow, geographic information system, optical character recognition, automated indexing, document management, public Web access and e-commerce capabilities.

Tyler has roughly 1,400 employees and had annual sales of about $170 million in fiscal 2005, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
