AT&T answers Defense call for network circuits

AT&T Government Solutions Inc. won orders totaling $8.2 million to provide 36 secure, high-capacity circuits to the Defense Information Systems Agency.

The agency, which oversees the Defense Department's networking needs, awarded the circuits under the Defense Information Systems Network Transmission Services ? CONUS Extension contract.

AT&T Government Solutions will supply private-line, point-to-point circuits that make up the backbone of the Defense Information Systems Network, which provides network services to U.S. soldiers. The domestic circuits will carry both voice and data traffic and will be used for command and control and administrative purposes.

AT&T Government Solutions of Vienna, Va., provides telecom and IT services for the federal government. Its parent company, AT&T Inc. is based in Houston.
