Juniper buys Acorn Packet Solutions
Juniper Networks Inc. has acquired Acorn Packet Solutions Inc. in a deal that will enable the IP network company to enhance its service offerings to federal customers.
Juniper Networks Inc. has bought Acorn Packet Solutions Inc. for about $8.7 million cash in a deal that will enable the Internet protocol network company to enhance its service offerings to federal customers. The transaction closed Oct. 20.
Acorn Packet Solutions of Frederick, Md., provides ways for federal government agencies to connect their legacy non-Internet protocol networks via Internet protocol networks. The company had 2004 revenue of less than $1 million.
The company's products and solutions essentially allow government customers to retain their investments in legacy network technology, while providing a smooth migration to more flexible and cost effective IP networks.
Juniper of Sunnyvale, Calif. designs and sells IP routers for private and public access networks. It employs about 3,000 people and has annual revenue of more than $1.3 billion.
