SRA lands trio of contracts

SRA International Inc. won two contracts totaling $51.2 million from the Federal Aviation Administration, the company said today.

Under the first contract, a five-year award worth a maximum of $39.6 million, SRA will provide engineering and technical services for the FAA's Airport Technology Research and Development Branch at its William J. Hughes Technical Center in Atlantic City, N.J. This organization conducts research, testing and demonstrations related to airport runway safety, airport planning and design, airport pavements and lighting technologies.

SRA will provide engineering, research and development services to help investigate the performance of airport pavement to be used by new large civil aircraft. The company also will assist with the design and demonstration of a range of airport research products.

R.D. McQueen and Associates Ltd. is SRA's teammate on the project.

The FAA also awarded SRA a five-year, $11.6 million contract to support the Technical Center's Fire Safety Branch, which conducts research, testing and standards development for aircraft fire safety. Under this contract, SRA will perform scientific and technical studies and develop and manage databases, international workshops and conferences related to aircraft safety. The company also will conduct laboratory tests on aircraft fire scenarios and research material flammability to help improve aircraft cabin fire safety.

In a separate announcement, SRA said it won a five-year, $25 million General Services Administration blanket purchase agreement from the Homeland Security Department. SRA will provide research, analysis, business process, strategic consulting and technical services support to the department's Office for Civil Rights and Liberties.

The office provides legal and policy advice to support DHS equal employment opportunity programs. SRA will provide program management services, refine business processes and procedures, develop departmentwide training programs and help the department comply with the federal reporting requirements for its employment opportunity program.

Fairfax, Va.-based SRA provides IT services and solutions to federal government agencies. The company has provided engineering, research and development services to the FAA for more than 15 years.

SRA employs about 4,600 workers and had revenue of $881.8 million for the fiscal year ended June 30. The company is No. 27 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 of prime federal contractors.
