Northrop Grumman wins $125 million Marine radar deal

Northrop Grumman Corp. won a four-year prime contract potentially worth $125 million from the Marine Corps to provide new ground-based radar that consolidates four different radar mission areas into one, the company announced this week.
The cost-plus-incentive-fee contract was awarded to Northrop Grumman's electronic systems sector in Baltimore, which designs, develops and manufactures defense and commercial electronic systems. The contract's first increment for the system design and development phase is valued at $7.9 million.
Northrop Grumman's team include Sensis Corp. of East Syracuse, N.Y., CEA Technologies Inc. of Colorado Springs, Colo., Techrizon LLC of Lawton, Okla., and Caterpillar Logistics Services Inc. of Morton, Ill.
The ground-air task oriented radar is mounted on Humvees and uses electronically scanned array technology to provide aircraft detection, tracking and engagement. It also detects and engages cruise missiles, locates ground weapons and controls air traffic.
Northrop Grumman of Los Angeles employs more than 125,000 workers and has annual revenue of $29.9 billion. The company Northrop Grumman ranks No. 2 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list, which measures federal contracting revenue.
