DHS taps Booz Allen for systems engineering

Booz Allen Hamilton Inc. won a five-year, $250 million contract to provide systems engineering technical assistance to the Science and Technology Directorate of the Homeland Security Department, the company announced today.

Under the contract, Booz Allen of McLean, Va., will provide program and technical management, program planning and oversight, technical evaluation, project analysis, risk mitigation and data development and management.

The company also will provide various other financial, human resource, IT, security, general administrative and technical support to DHS technology programs. These programs are overseen by the undersecretary of homeland security for science and technology.

The Science Technology Directorate is the research and development arm of DHS. Its primary mission is to develop and deploy high-performance, low-operating-cost systems to prevent, detect and mitigate the consequences of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive attacks.

Booz Allen's team includes Amron Corp., Bayfirst Solutions LLC, CACI International Inc., Camber Corp., Carrie-Brooks-Brown Consulting Services, Central Point LLC, Defense Group Inc., Missing Link, Strategic Analysis Inc., and Schafer Corp., Arlington, Va.

Booz Allen has about 16,000 employees and annual sales of $3 billion. The company ranks No. 9 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list, which measures federal IT contracting revenue.
