Northrop Grumman wins Navy training range support work
Northrop Grumman Corp. won a contract to provide operations, maintenance and engineering support for the Navy and Marine Corps East Coast and West Coast training ranges.
Northrop Grumman Corp. won a five-year, $208 million contract from the Navy to provide operations, maintenance and engineering support for the Navy and Marine Corps East Coast and West Coast training ranges, the company said today.
Under the contract, Northrop Grumman Information Technology of McLean, Va., will provide a staff of engineers and technicians for operations, maintenance and engineering support of the tactical air crew combat-training system and the global positioning system-based large area tracking range.
The staff will support electronic warfare, surface range scoring and monitoring systems, range maintenance and unexploded ordinance disposal. It also will provide support for telemetry, communications and range-support services used in training Navy, Marine Corps, Army and Air Force personnel.
As for original equipment manufacturers, the company's Electronic Systems Division will provide engineering support.
Northrop Grumman's partners on the project include Chugach Development Corp., Arcata Associates Inc., Westech International Inc., Expeditionary Technical Solutions Inc. and Digital Perceptions Inc.
The contract combines the two training programs, which previously were procured separately. The company served as the incumbent on the East Coast tactical training range contract for more than 10 years.
Northrop Grumman expects to add about 180 new jobs to the company for this contract. The company will perform the work in South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Nevada, Arizona and California.
Northrop Grumman IT is part of Northrop Grumman Corp. of Los Angeles. The parent company has more than 125,000 employees and annual revenue of $29.9 billion.
Northrop Grumman ranks No. 2 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list of federal IT prime contractors.
