MTC tapped for F-16 fire control computer

MTC Technologies Inc. won a six-year, $45 million task order from the Ogden Air Logistics Center to modify Air National Guard and Air Reserve Command F-16 aircraft with a commercial fire control computer that guides missiles in combat, the company said today.

Under the task order, which consists of one base year and five option years, MTC's OnBoard Software Inc. subsidiary in San Antonio will adapt the original software for an operational flight program to the new fire control operating environment.

MTC's teammate, SBS Technologies Inc. of Albuquerque, N.M., will manufacture the embedded computer hardware products to support the installation and integration of the commercial fire control computer. After they are modified, the aircraft will be able to incorporate additional advances in avionics for improved navigation and targeting.

The Ogden Air Logistics Center at Hill Air Force Base in Utah directs major Air Force missions, including system management, repair and storage of strategic missiles, and system management of the F-16, F-4 and RF-4C fighter aircraft.

Based in Dayton, Ohio, MTC provides engineering, technical and management services to the Defense Department and national-security agencies. The company employs about 2,700 workers in more than 40 locations and posted 2004 revenue of $273 million. MTC is No. 59 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list of federal prime contractors.
