CACI to build Defense personnel Web portal

CACI International Inc. won a task order worth about $11 million, if all options are exercised, to continue work on the Defense Personnel Records Image Retrieval System initiative, according to company officials.
The Records Image Retrieval System is a secure Web portal through which the Department of Veterans Affairs and other federal agencies access official military personnel records in digital image format.
Copies of documents from millions of records for active duty, guard, and reserve service personnel, as well as recently retired, separated or discharged veterans, can be requested by authorized agency users, CACI officials said.
The five-year task order was competitively awarded under the General Services Administration's Millennia Lite contract, and requires CACI to perform Web-based integration and support services for the DOD.
CACI will continue to provide maintenance and support for the legacy Records Image Retrieval system software, integrate interfaces with other DOD military personnel records systems, complete the development and implementation of a secure Web site for authorized agency use and expand the system to support automated routing of requests for information or documents from older microfiche and paper records.
The upgraded Military Personnel Records?Net Centric enterprise portal will automate the secure routing of government agency requests and return of retrieved images, text, and data.
CACI is ranked No. 17 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list.
