ViaSat lands Navy tactical network terminal deal
ViaSat Inc. has won a $60 million task order from the Naval Warfare Systems Command to provide airborne and ground-based tactical network terminals.
ViaSat Inc. has won a $60 million task order from the Naval Warfare Systems Command to provide airborne and ground-based tactical network terminals, the company announced today.
Under the task order, ViaSat of Carlsbad, Calif., will provide the San Diego-based Navy command with multifunctional information distribution system terminals, including airborne and ground-based low volume terminals known as LVT(1) and LVT(2), respectively.
The Lot 6 award includes LVT(1) terminals and spares for F/A-18, F-16 and B-52 aircraft, the MH-60 helicopter and Link-16 Alaska. The award also includes LVT(2) terminals and spares for various Army and Air Force systems and Japan's Defense Agency via a foreign military sales procurement.
The task order was made under an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract awarded in 2000. Delivery will begin next April and continue into 2007.
The MIDS LVT provides secure, high-capacity digital and voice communications that are resistant to jamming for the U.S. military and its allies.
ViaSat, a provider of satellite and wireless communication products, has more than 950 employees and annual sales of $278.6 million, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas
