AT&T unit wins GIG-BE support work
AT&T Government Solutions won a subcontract to provide engineering and installation work at key locations in the United States and abroad for the Defense Department's Global Information Grid Bandwidth Expansion project.
AT&T Government Solutions won a five-month, $14 million subcontract to provide engineering and installation work at key locations in the United States and abroad for the Defense Department's Global Information Grid Bandwidth Expansion project, the company said today.
AT&T is subcontractor to Science Applications International Corp., the prime contractor on the $3 billion award for the project known as GIG-BE. The project is the foundation of the Defense Information Systems Agency's network modernization efforts.
Under the subcontract, AT&T engineers will install and test equipment to activate key hub locations where traffic from the high-speed global grid is switched and monitored.
Based in Vienna, Va., AT&T Government Solutions provides telecom and information technology services for the federal government. Its parent company, AT&T Corp. of Bedminster, N.J., employs 47,600 workers and had 2004 revenue of $30.5 billion. It ranks No. 31 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list of prime federal contractors.
