Rhode Island re-ups EDS for Medicaid services
EDS Corp. has won a $73 million contract from Rhode Island to continue processing health care provider claims and other financial services.
EDS Corp. has won a $73 million contract from Rhode Island to continue processing health care provider claims and other financial services, the company announced today. The four-year contract has two one-year options.
Under the contract, EDS of Plano, Texas, will continue to provide fiscal agent services to the state's Medicaid management information system, such as claims processing, systems management, provider relations, data analysis, drug use review and premium billing and collection.
The contract extends a 12-year relationship between EDS and the Rhode Island Department of Human Services. Last year, EDS processed more than 6.5 million Medicaid health care claims and distributed about $1.3 billion in benefits for more than 175,000 qualified recipients.
EDS has Medicaid support contracts in 17 states. Rhode Island marks the company's second contract award this year. The company announced in February that it had won a seven-year MMIS contract with Wisconsin.
EDS, a provider of IT, applications and business process services, has 132,000 employees and annual sales of $20.6 billion. It ranks eighth on Washington Technology's 2004 Top 100 list of federal prime contractors.
