The Eye Ball sees all
With the launch of Remington Arms Company Inc.'s technologies division, a new audio and video surveillance device hits the market, said officials from the Madison, N.C., company.
The Eye Ball R1 is a wireless, baseball-size device that provides a 360-degree view of an environment. The Eye Ball has a 200-yard range.
Law enforcement officers can roll, toss or drop the ruggedized Eye Ball into hazardous situations. Real-time audio and video provides the information needed to make safe decisions, company officials said.
Once deployed, it captures and transmits audio and video to its personal display unit, which also lets the user direct the Eye Ball's camera.
Security solution goes biometric
SCM Microsystems Inc. has added an external fingerprint reader to its ChipDrive Smartcard Office 2.5, the Fremont, Calif., company said.
ChipDrive products offer customized solutions for security, authentication and e-commerce. Its new Smartcard Office 2.5 Biometric combines hardware and software to support sensitive applications.
The solution uses a secure fingerprint reader rather than a personal code to safeguard access to PCs and networks. The user's fingerprint, which can serve as master key or master password, will be matched with the previously stored biometric profile. Access is allowed only after positive authentication.
Track your trucks
Axcess International Inc., a provider of active radio frequency identification systems, has introduced a trucking product line called FleetTag, said officials from the Dallas company.
The FleetTag System hardware includes several Axcess active RFID tag choices for a variety of surfaces and functions. The system includes TCP/IP and standard-access control-enabled receivers and a variety of wake-up antenna designs.
The software includes a suite of middleware and applications to allow real-time tracking of tractors and trailers moving into, out of and within a facility.
