Alion makes another deal
Alion Science and Technology Corp. of McLean, Va., makes its fourth acquisition since October with its plan to buy John J. McMullen Associates.
Defense IT solutions contractor Alion Science and Technology Corp. of McLean, Va., is acquiring John J. McMullen Associates (JJMA), an architecture and marine engineering firm in Alexandria, Va., in a partnership both companies said will strengthen their military and civilian businesses.
On a pro-form basis, the combined companies are expected to generate annual revenue of $425 million, said Peter Jacobs, assistant vice president for marketing for Alion. He declined to release additional revenue figures or the value of the acquisition.
The acquisition of JJMA will be the fourth Alion has completed since October. Alion, which is owned by its 2,000 employees, expects to complete the deal with McMullen, owned by its 600 employees, in April, Jacobs said.
"This acquisition will help us further our support of the Navy, Coast Guard and Marine Corps with practical, technically advanced systems and solutions. It will also present new opportunities in the commercial world," said Alion's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Bahman Atefi in a news release.
Alion's employees are at offices, military bases and laboratories worldwide in programs including Naval Sea Systems Command and the Joint Spectrum Center. Alion is ranked No. 55 on Washington Technology's 2004 list of the Top 100 federal government contractors.
