CSC wins next phase of CADE work

Computer Sciences Corp. received a $34 million task order from the Internal Revenue Service to perform work on the Customer Account Data Engine project, officials from the El Segundo, Calif., company said.

CADE is an integral part of IRS' business systems modernization program and is slated to replace the agency's Individual Master File system. It will become the single database for account and tax return data.

CSC will roll out a new release of the software under the task order. The July release includes new capabilities that will let CADE process and retain more taxpayer accounts, CSC officials said.

This year, taxpayer returns will be processed on the new modernized system during the beginning of the season. It is expected that CADE will process 2 million 1040EZ returns during the 2005 filing season.

CSC ranked third on Washington Technology's 2004 Top 100 list, which measures federal contracting revenue.
