Bush taps DOD deputy as interim Army undersecretary

President Bush has designated Raymond F. DuBois, former deputy Defense undersecretary for installations and environment, as acting undersecretary of the Army.

DuBois, who left his Pentagon post in the fall, also previously worked as director of administration and management. In that job, he was the principal staff assistant to Defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld on all personnel, real estate and organizational planning issues in the Office of the Secretary of Defense.

His DOD assignments followed several management positions in industry and at the Army.

In November, Philip W. Grone took over as deputy Defense undersecretary for installations and environment.

DuBois served in the Army from 1967 to 1969, including nearly 13 months in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal. He was also awarded the Civilian Distinguished Service Medal in 1976 while serving as the deputy undersecretary of the Army.

DuBois received his bachelor's degree from Princeton University.
