Army hires CSC for single logistics project

Computer Sciences Corp. has won a $199 million blanket purchase agreement to integrate the Army's field logistics system with its national logistics system.

The contract, known as the Product Lifecycle Management Plus program, was awarded by the Army's Program Executive Office for Enterprise Information Systems.

The $199 million BPO runs for roughly 57 months. The Product Lifecycle Management Plus program will give users a comprehensive picture of all the service's products throughout their lifecycle.

CSC, the prime contractor for another major Army logistics initiative known as Logistics Modernization Program, will use that program as the foundation for its work on the new contract, the release said.

"This program is a natural extension of the Logistics Modernization Program work we've accomplished to modernize Army business processes and configure them using an enterprise resource application," said Paul Cofoni, president of CSC's Federal Sector business unit.

CSC's subcontractors include Northrop Grumman Corp.'s Mission Systems unit in Reston, Va.; IBM Corp., Armonk, N.Y.; Digital Fusion Inc., Huntsville, Ala.; and SAP AG, Walldorf, Germany.
