The Air Force Research Laboratory wants to build a modular data network that can integrate everything from tactical unmanned aerial vehicles to ground forces.
The lab plans to issue a broad agency announcement this week for its Quint Networking Technology Program. In a draft BAA, the lab said it wants to award contracts to at least two vendors or teams of vendors to design, develop, evaluate and demonstrate robust and affordable multiband data link technologies for weapons, UAVs and ground troops.
The announcement will cover the program's first three phases:
- Analyzing different waveforms
- Designing and developing modular tools
- Testing a prototype family of data link equipment.
