BAE Systems nets $62M deal from Navy

BAE Systems North America Inc. won a $62 million contract from the Navy's Strategic Systems Programs to support system engineering and integration for the Trident I and Trident II Fleet Ballistic Missile Strategic Weapon Systems programs, the company said today.

The contract is a continuation of various systems engineering, test, analysis, information technology and logistics solutions that BAE Systems has provided to the Washington-based Strategic Systems Programs since 1956.

BAE Systems will modify and update system test procedures, as well as plan \and participate in strategic weapon systems testing during submarine overhaul, refit and backlift. The company also will provide systems engineering and integration activities for system coordination, interface definition and control, technical documentation, fleet support, information systems, material support, facilities engineering, configuration management and logistics management.

In addition, BAE Systems will supply planning and monitoring support to ensure compliance with the Navy's part of the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty.

The contract work will be performed by the company's technology solutions unit at its offices in Silver Spring, Md., and will be completed by September 2005.

The Rockville, Md., defense company employs nearly 30,000 workers and posted 2003 revenue of more than $5 billion. It ranks No. 12 on Washington Technology's 2004 Top 100 list of federal prime contractors.
