Inside Track: New Federal Projects
The Air Force wants off-the-shelf products for infrared technology for troubleshooting aircraft malfunctions and discrepancies. The Air Warfare Battlelab at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho is investigating using the technology in both back shop and flight maintenance environments to help find and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, environmental and other malfunctions.
The system must be transportable, handheld when in use, and use software compatible with Air Force computer systems and Microsoft software. It also must survive in harsh operating environments. Responses are due by Nov. 19. Contact Becky Briggs at becky.briggs@mountainhome.af.mil.
Iraqi railroad needs LAN
The Army's Project and Contracting Office in Baghdad wants a LAN for the Iraqi Republic Railway headquarters at Baghdad Central Station and two adjacent work sites.
The contractor must design the architecture and acquire the necessary hardware and software as well as provide manuals in both English and Arabic. Fifty Compaq Presario notebook PCs with Intel Celeron M Processor 330 with Arabic keyboards, and loaded with the latest version of Microsoft Office in Arabic are needed. The contractor also must provide training and parts for one year. Responses are due by Nov. 22. Contact Charles Clements at charles.clements@cpa-iq.org.
Weather system needed
The Federal Highway Administration seeks proposals for a 20-month, cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for its Clarus Weather System Design project. Clarus is a nationwide surface transportation weather observing and forecasting system.
Using a systems engineering approach, the contractor must create an open systems design for exchanging and managing surface transportation weather observations and forecasting; ensure coordinated performance among the system's components; and prepare enhancements for the system's design.
Responses are due by Dec. 22. Contact James Mowery at james.mowery@fhwa. dot.gov.
