DISA floats draft procurement systems specs

The Defense Information Systems Agency has released a draft in solicitation for an integrated procurement system.

The draft request for proposals notes that DISA wants to consolidate 11 mainframe applications, 47 client-server applications and seven Web applications that support the Procurement and Logistics Directorate. A chief problem is that the apps don't adhere to a consistent architecture.

Under the Enterprise Business Modernization project, DISA's goal is to replace legacy apps and create a single integrated system accessible by users worldwide.

The agency expects to award a firm, fixed-price contract to a single vendor.

"The solution will incorporate the mandated federal and DOD e-business applications, and it will solve the data exchange interoperability gap between these applications," according to the draft RFP.

DISA will accept comments on the draft until Nov. 24. The agency plans to release a final RFP by Jan. 12, accept proposals at the end of February and award the contract in the summer.
