DHS, GAO disagree on EA

A new Government Accountability Office report acknowledged the Homeland Security Department's progress in developing an enterprise architecture, but said the blueprint lacked sufficient detail.

The architecture is missing, in part or in whole, key elements of a good architecture, such as business processes and information flows among these processes, the report said.

DHS told GAO it had a lot of work to do on its architecture, but disagreed with many of GAO's findings.

"The DHS EA was evaluated against an unrealistic expectation that the first version would comprehensively address the full national scope of the homeland security enterprise," wrote Anna Dixon of DHS' Office of the Chief Financial Officer.
