CompuDyne acquires emergency response software company

CompuDyne Corp. has acquired 90 Degrees Inc., a provider of fire and emergency medical information management systems for private, military and public safety agencies.

Terms of the deal, announced Aug. 11, were not disclosed.

The acquisition of Yakima, Wash.-based 90 Degrees is expected to boost CompuDyne's fire and rescue product offerings, said Gary Bunyard, president and chief executive officer of Tiburon Inc, CompuDyne's public safety and justice unit.

Kenneth McAllister, 90 Degrees' chief executive officer, will continue as vice president of the 90 Degrees business unit.

Because 90 Degrees is just coming out of the development stage, the acquisition is expected to generate modest revenues in the low millions in 2005, CompuDyne officials said.

Tiburon provides automated public safety and justice systems for law enforcement, fire and rescue, corrections and justice environments.

CompuDyne of Annapolis, Md., is a provider of security products, integration and technology services. The company has more than 840 employees and annual sales of $193 million, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
