Blue Canopy forms federal unit

Blue Canopy Group launched a federal division to meet the government's changing needs for information technology and management solutions, the company said yesterday.

Eric Husebo, vice president of Blue Canopy's government services, will oversee the new unit, called BC Fed Group LLC.

The company's government services division develops, manages and deploys complex IT solutions for civilian and defense organizations in the federal government.

"As the federal government strives to increase efficiencies, especially in the IT arena, operations and outcomes are being modeled to more closely resemble those in the private sector," Husebo said.

BC Fed Group has completed projects for the Defense and Treasury departments and the Environmental Protection Agency and recently received certification as a General Services Administration schedule supplier. The unit plans to add commercial fixed-price offerings and tools to its government services offerings, Blue Canopy said.

Blue Canopy is a privately held company in Herndon, Va.
