Unisys buys Baesch Computer Consulting

Unisys Corp. acquired Baesch Computer Consulting Inc., which provides software and systems engineering to the federal defense and intelligence communities, the company said today.

Unisys did not disclose the price for BCC. The purchase continues Unisys' strategy of enhancing its services through strategic niche acquisitions.

Robert Baesch, BCC's chief executive officer and majority owner, established the Glen Burnie, Md., company as a privately held firm in 1995. Baesch now will serve as vice president and general manager in Unisys' global public sector group.

According to Hoover's Online, BBC had 2003 sales of $12.4 million and employed 124 workers. Unisys has obtained around 90 BCC employees in the transaction.

Based in Blue Bell, Pa., Unisys offers information technology and solutions worldwide. The company had 2003 revenue of $5.9 billion and employed approximately 37,300 workers at the end of last year. It ranks No. 28 on Washington Technology's 2004 Top 100 list of federal prime contractors.
