StratCom taps CSC for IT support

Computer Sciences Corp. won a 10-year $525 million contract to provide information technology infrastructure support services to the U.S. Strategic Command, the company said today.

Headquartered at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska, the Strategic Command is the command and control center for the nation's strategic forces and controls military space operations, computer network operations, information operations, strategic warning and intelligence assessments and global strategic planning. It is one of nine of the country's unified commands under the Defense Department.

The contract has one base year plus nine one-year options. CSC will provide all the services needed to run the command's IT infrastructure. The company will manage and refresh desktops, servers, networks and related services. CSC also will develop the IT infrastructure to become a more common architecture that will improve the command's mission and management capabilities.

CSC's team members include BAE Systems Mission Solutions Inc. of San Diego, McCallie Associates Inc. of Bellevue, Neb., and Client/Server Software Solutions Inc. of Omaha, Neb., and All Native Systems of Winnebago, Neb. The primary work place will be Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska.

CSC is a systems integrator headquartered in El Segundo, Calif. It is No. 3 on Washington Technology's 2004 Top 100 list of federal contractors, ranked according to their prime IT contracting revenue. The company employs approximately 90,000 workers and had revenue of $14.8 billion for the fiscal year ended April 2, 2004.
