SRA wins DARPA contract

SRA International Inc. won a contract from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency to provide technical and program support services to DARPA's Tactical Technology Office, officials of the Fairfax, Va., company announced today.

Under its new contract, SRA will help the Tactical Technology Office with strategic planning and evaluating technologies developed by industry, universities and military laboratories. SRA will also provide business financial management services and Web development services. The company will also maintain internal and external DARPA Web sites.

The contract, awarded under the General Services Administration Professional Engineering Services Schedule, is worth about $19.9 million over five years if all options are exercised, according to SRA officials.

DARPA is the central research and development organization for the Defense Department. The DARPA Tactical Technology Office manages programs in advanced military research that emphasize system and subsystem approaches to technology development, particularly for unmanned, space and land systems.

SRA ranked No. 31 on Washington Technology's 2004 Top 100 list of federal prime IT contractors. The company had $450.4 million in revenue in 2003 and employs 2,600 people.
