ITA asked to train State employees

ITA Inc. won a $10 million crisis management training contract from the State Department, the company said yesterday.

ITA will develop 130 country-specific crisis scenarios for State Department employees, and train workers who would implement emergency action plans at various locations worldwide. These locations include parts of Asia, Africa and the Middle East, where threat levels to American citizens are high.

The contract is for one year with four option years, and was awarded through a full and open competition. Terry Kreamer, ITA's senior vice president of finance and administration, said the contract highlighted the company's transition away from its 8(a) small business status. ITA graduates from the set aside program in September 2005.

"This contract validates the work that ITA has put into delivering a high level of customer satisfaction to the State Department for each of the past five years," Kreamer said.

Based in Springfield, Va., ITA is a privately held company that specializes in knowledge management and antiterrorism products and consulting services for the federal sector. Besides the State Department, ITA's client roster includes the Defense, Energy, Justice and Treasury departments, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, Environmental Protection Agency, General Services Administration and Federal Aviation Administration. The company employs 165 people and had 2003 revenue of $25 million.
