Defense awards small-business support contract

Houston Associates Inc. of Arlington, Va., won a $70 million to support the Defense Information Systems Agency, Advanced Information Technology Services-Joint Program Office.

Houston Associates Inc. of Arlington, Va., was awarded a cost-plus-fixed fee, performance-based contract by DISA that could run for seven years.

The contract has a base period of one year with four 12-month options, along with an additional two 12-month award term periods if the contractor's work is determined to be superior.

Under the contract, Houston Associates will maintain and support the services network, demonstrate, evaluate and test advanced IT, and sustain the infrastructure necessary for technology insertion and transition.

Houston was one of five small businesses responding to the requirement. The requirement was solicited as a 100 percent small business set-aside. The Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization-National Capital Region is the contracting office.
