CACI wins $75M contract at Navy shipyards
CACI International Inc. to provide systems integration, software development and business process support for information systems at all Navy shipyards.
CACI International Inc. won a five-year, $75 million contract from the Naval Sea Systems Command to provide systems integration, software development and business process support for information systems in use at all U.S. Navy shipyards.
The recompete award is the first major contract won by the new business group formed since May 1 when the Arlington, Va., CACI acquired the Defense and Intelligence Group of American Management Systems Inc.
The win increases the value and scope of the work CACI is performing on the contract and expands the company's systems integration line of business. Work will begin immediately in Norfolk, Va., according to CACI officials.
Under the terms of the contract, CACI will continue more than 10 years of service to the Navy Systems Support Group and the Navy's Supervisor of Shipbuilding as these organizations modernize naval shipyard business processes and information systems.
For the Navy Systems Support Group, CACI has already helped reengineer shipyard processes and develop new information systems to support them. Under the new contract, the company will support a CACI-developed work planning and management application that tracks repairs, materials allocation and cost, worker training and other critical maintenance elements, and interfaces with many other Navy systems.
For the Supervisor of Shipbuilding, CACI will develop new applications and manage an automated information center that provides centralized oversight and call center support for all corporate information systems.
The contract award combines elements of CACI's threefold growth strategy: sustaining long-term client relationships, winning recompete contracts and maintaining a successful acquisitions program, according to J.P. "Jack" London, CACI chairman, president and chief executive officer.
"We have provided a seamless transition to clients that came to us as a result of our Defense and Intelligence Group acquisition, and they have rewarded us with continued business," London said.
CACI employs 9,400 people and had revenue of $843.1 million in 2003. The company ranks No. 17 of Washington Technology's Top 100 federal prime IT contractors.
