NCI wins several homeland security, intelligence contracts

NCI Information Systems Inc. of Reston, Va., has won six contracts worth a total of more than $7 million in the intelligence, defense and homeland security arenas, the company said today.

NCI will primarily provide information assurance, systems integration and enterprise management.

Most of the work will be with the Homeland Security Department and intelligence agencies, and some work will be with defense agencies. The contracts are for the next 12 years, but most of the work is expected in the next two to five years, the company said.

The contracts "provide significant opportunities in some new areas for NCI and demonstrate continued expansion in key areas," said Charles Narang, NCI chairman and chief executive officer.

One of the contracts is a result of NCI's acquisition of Scientific & Engineering Solutions Inc. last year. SES works solely in intelligence and has pushed NCI's growth in that area, said Linda Allan, NCI spokeswoman.

NCI partnered with Chenega Technology Services Corp. of Alexandria, Va., for two of the other contracts and will act as a subcontractor under existing Chenega contracts.

Because of the contracts' intelligence components, NCI could not release further details.

Nearly all of NCI's revenue comes from the public sector, with 65 percent coming from defense and intelligence work and the rest from other civilian agencies, Allan said. The privately owned company employs more than 1,400 people in 60 locations and provides enterprise systems management, network engineering, information assurance and systems development and integration.
