Space Imaging wins Forest Service GIS work

Space Imaging Inc. of Denver will continue providing geographic information services to the U.S. Forest Service under a contract worth up to $1.3 million over three years, company officials announced Thursday.

Under the indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract, Space Imaging will continue its work for Forest Service's regional office in Vallejo, Calif., remote sensing laboratory in Sacramento, Calif., and the 18 national forests in California's Region 5. Space Imaging has worked in the region for the past 12 years.

Space Imaging will provide professional services in vegetation mapping, inventory and analysis, geospatial data capture, database updating, natural resource modeling and analysis, GIS application development, and cartographic map production.

Space Imaging had 2003 revenue of more than $200 million. The privately held company was founded in 1994 with investments from Lockheed Martin Corp., Raytheon Systems Co., Mitsubishi Corp. and Hyundai Corp.
