CGI wins $19.5M renewal from Bureau of Indian Affairs

CGI Group Inc. won a five-year renewal of its Trust Asset and Accounting Management System contract with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Canadian company announced today.

Under the $19.5 million contract, CGI will extend the regional deployment of the software nationwide, to all bureau land titles and records offices. As a result, BIA will be able to retire its legacy land records information systems, according to CGI. Nationwide deployment, including data conversion and training, will be completed in 15 months.

Montreal-based CGI is responsible for development, deployment and conversion of system data, and for providing support services to the bureau. Data will be housed in CGI's data center in Dallas, and CGI will use its training facility to train bureau staff on the on the Trust Asset and Accounting Management System.

The system provides shared access to title trust data among title and realty agencies and departments, enabling the BIA to coordinate and streamline processing of its trust responsibilities. The software has secure data clean-up features to correct discrepancies and anomalies found in the legacy trust data, according to CGI.

The bureau manages 55.7 million acres of land held in trust by the United States for American Indians, Indian tribes and Alaska Natives. The agency's responsibilities include developing lands, leasing assets on these lands, directing agricultural programs, protecting water and land rights, developing and maintaining infrastructure and economic development.

CGI and its affiliated companies employ 20,000 people. The company's annual revenue in fiscal 2003 was $2.1 billion.
