Air Force taps BAE Systems for radar support

BAE Systems won a five-year, $37.7 million contract from the Air Force Space Command to provide operations, maintenance and logistics support for a tactical warning radar system for Cavalier Air Force Station, N.D., the company announced today.

Under the contract, BAE Systems Technical Services Inc. of Rockville, Md., will support the AN/FPQ-16 Perimeter Acquisition Radar Attack Characterization System, or Parcs, by providing services such as program management, training, site operations, communications and electronics maintenance, computer operations and local area network and software support.

Other services include supply support, civil engineering support, environmental management, security, transportation, vehicle maintenance and calibration.

Parcs, which is run by the 10th Space Warning Squadron, provides tactical warning and attack assessments of missiles launched against the continental United States and southern Canada. It also provides space surveillance, tracking, reporting and space object identification support.

BAE Systems Technical Services is a unit of BAE Systems plc of Farnborough, England. The company has more than 90,000 employees and annual sales of about $19 billion. The company was ranked No. 10 on Washington Technology's 2003 Top 100 list.
