Northrop Grumman wins radar contract

Northrop Grumman Corp. has won a $11.7 million contract to provide navigation and weather radars to the Air National Guard for its C-130H aircraft, the company announced today.

The Los Angeles company will install 25 systems over the next two years.

The radar systems will provide high-resolution ground mapping for low-level navigation and precision aerial drops. The systems also detect wind shear.

The order also includes an update to the APN-241 Radar Operational Flight Program to accommodate a new processor installed in the hardware. Engineering and manufacturing of the radars will take place at the company's Norwalk, Conn., and Baltimore facilities. Deliveries are expected to be complete by Oct. 31, 2005.
