BTI lands $50 million IT support contract

Base Technologies Inc. has won a contract worth up to $50 million over five years for information technology systems support from the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection, part of the Homeland Security Department, the company announced today.

At the agency's request, Charles Tang, director of business development and marketing for BTI, declined to provide any details of the nature of the work.

The reorganization of agencies within Homeland Security included the incorporation of the Customs Service and parts of the Immigration and Naturalization Service into the new bureau. Preventing terrorists and illegal weapons from entering the United States is the mission's focus.

BTI is a privately owned company based in McLean, Va. It has approximately 250 employees, and Tang said revenue for 2003 is estimated to be $26 million.
