Northrop Grumman wins $85 million subcontract

Northrop Grumman Corp. announced Monday that it won a contract from InDyne Inc. of McLean, Va., to support the Air Force Space Command's Western Range operations, communications and information at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.

Northrop Grumman IT will provide performance assurance and engineering services to InDyne, the prime contractor. The award has an initial value of $85 million over eight years. The company estimates it will hire an additional 200 employees at sites in California and Hawaii.

The contract consolidates several existing contracts, providing improved service and cost efficiencies, Northrop Grumman said.

The company also will receive engineering task orders issued by the 30th Contracting Squadron, the contracting organization for the Air Force Space Command. The 30th Space Wing at Vandenberg is responsible for all Defense Department space and missile launch activities on the West Coast.

Northrop Grumman, based in Los Angeles and ranked No. 2 on the Washington Technology Top 100 federal prime contractors list, reported 2002 revenue of $17.2 billion. The company employs 120,000 people worldwide.
