Northrop Grumman takes Navy DIMHRS deal
Northrop Grumman Corp. has won a contract worth about $282 million to provide the Navy with an integrated human resources management system.
Northrop Grumman Corp., Los Angeles, has won a contract worth about $282 million to provide the Navy with an integrated human resources management system, the Defense Department announced Sept. 26.
Under terms of this 10-year contract, the information technology division of Northrop Grumman will perform the second phase of the Navy's Defense Integrated Military Human Resources System for Personnel and Pay Program.
In the first phase, five companies were awarded $1 million each to conduct a risk assessment study of building such a system. That contract was awarded in September 2002. The five companies were Computer Sciences Corp., El Segundo, Calif.; IBM Corp., Armonk, N.Y.; Lockheed Martin Corp., Bethesda, Md.; Northrop Grumman and PwC Consulting, which is now part of IBM.
Using software from PeopleSoft Inc., Pleasanton, Calif., the system will support 3.1 million service personnel and will replace 81 legacy systems.
The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command was the contracting office.
