CSC wins $1.1B Army simulation contract

Computer Sciences Corp. won an Army contract worth more than $1.1 billion for simulator-based flight training and related aviation training support, officials of the El Segundo, Calif., company announced today.

CSC will provide its services to the Army Aviation Center at Fort Rucker, Ala. The contract is for 12 years and one eight-year option period. CSC estimates the contract will be worth more than $1.1 billion if the option period is exercised.

Under the contract, called Flight School XXI, CSC will help the Army use high-tech training methods and virtual flight simulators to improve its training effectiveness and cut costs. CSC will provide, manage, operate, maintain and upgrade a suite of virtual flight simulators that support Army rotary flight training.

CSC has provided similar services at Fort Rucker under the Joint Test and Evaluation Contract for the past six years.

The Flight School XXI contract is issued through the Army's Program Executive Office, Simulation, Training and Instrumentation, which is responsible for the Army's interoperable testing, training and simulation programs.

CSC's team members include Flight Safety International Inc. of Flushing, N.Y., Link Simulation & Training of Arlington, Texas, NLX Corp. of Sterling, Va., Intelligent Decision Systems Inc. of Fairfax, Va., and ISERA Group LLC of Santa Barbara, Calif.
