Lockheed Martin Corp. plans to pursue as a prime the lucrative and high profile U.S. Visitor and Immigrant Status Indicator Technology contract coming out of the Homeland Security Department.

Lockheed Martin's team includes Booz Allen Hamilton Inc., Harris Corp., IBM Corp., Management Systems Designers, Science Applications International Corp., SI International Inc. and Unisys Corp.

The U.S. VISIT program will develop and implement an automated system to track the entry, stay and exit of foreign nationals to the United States via land, sea or air. The system will use biometrics to identify persons who may pose a threat, yet allow for the quick flow of people and goods across borders.

"The government needs a trusted partner to deliver the U.S. VISIT system quickly to protect our nation without impeding the movement of people and goods across our borders," said Don Antonucci, president, Lockheed Martin Transportation and Security Solutions. *
