Former Joint Chiefs director joins Oracle

Oracle Corp. has brought on retired Army Lt. Gen. Joseph Kellogg Jr. to oversee its homeland security solutions efforts, executives of the Redwood Shores, Calif., software firm announced today.

Kellogg, a 32-year Army veteran, joined Oracle as senior vice president of homeland security solutions.

Kellogg was most recently director of command, control, communications and computers for the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Oracle officials said he understands the value of software solutions in accessing information and collaborating among the multiple branches of the military and among public- and private-sector organizations involved with protecting the country's critical infrastructure.

"During my career, information technology has increasingly brought the capability of all our military services together, creating a more agile and lethal force, and it will continue to be the dominant agent of change in the future," Kellogg said. "[Oracle's] mission is critically important in our war and homeland security efforts, and by joining this team, I have been given the opportunity to continue to work to strengthen America's defenses."

Oracle has supported federal defense, intelligence and civilian agencies and state, local and municipal governments for more than 25 years.
