BearingPoint wins $9 million Iraq work

The McLean, Va., company won a contract from the U.S. Agency for International Development to assist in rebuilding Iraq's economy.

BearingPoint Inc., McLean, Va., won a $9 million contract from the U.S. Agency for International Development to assist in rebuilding Iraq's economy, the company announced Thursday.

Under terms of this one-year contract, BearingPoint will help the Coalition Provisional Authority create a commercially competitive, private-sector economy for Iraq. BearingPoint will review the country's laws and policies that guide Iraq trade, commerce and investment.

This contract is part of the agency's overall efforts to help Iraq increase prosperity through international trade and modernization.

In March, BearingPoint won a three-year, $39.9 million contract from the USAID to help the government of Afghanistan implement policy and institutional reform measures for economic development.
