Accela sells Fla. environmental work
Software vendor Accela Inc. has won a $4 million contract from Dade County, Fla., for software and support to the Department of Environmental Resources Management.
State and local software vendor Accela Inc., Dublin, Calif., won a $4 million contract from Dade County, Fla., to provide software and support to the county's Department of Environmental Resources Management, Accela announced this week.
"Accela's solution was selected because it will effectively connect all of our business units and will allow us to perform our tasks better and faster," said Jerry Crawford, chief of computer services at the Department of Environmental Resources Management.
Accela's Automation software will be used in the county's Environmental Enterprise Operations System to automate the handling of citizen requests that deal with pollution control, natural resources, waste and water management and air quality.
Agency departments will have access to license and permit databases, as well as geographic representations of all land-use and zoning information.
In addition, the contract covers other county agencies and departments who wish to purchase the software.
Founded in 1999, Accela provides integrated software to state and local governments that handle asset management, bioterrorism alerts, emergency response, and management of licensing, permitting, planning and public health workflow.
Customers include the cities of Washington, Atlanta, Kansas City, Kan., as well as San Diego County, Placer County, Calif., and New Mexico, Michigan and Florida.
