Titan gets $69M geospatial info and services task order

Titan Corp. of San Diego won a task order from the General Services Administration for geospatial information and services support for U.S. Air Force bases in the Pacific Air Forces, GSA announced May 21.

GSA's Federal Systems Integration and Management Center, a program of the Federal Technology Service, selected Titan through FTS's Millennia Lite contract on behalf of the Air Force. If all options are exercised, the seven-year, eight-month task order will be worth at least $69 million to Titan.

Under the task order, Titan will provide legacy systems migration, new enterprise systems development and related geospatial information systems support, including mission critical support, to the Air Force GeoBase Program, other major commands and Defense Department organizations worldwide.

Because organizations outside the Air Force can use the task order, Titan Corp. executives said they expect its value to exceed $69 million. The company has been providing enterprise geospatial information and services support to the Air Force since 1990.

"Due to the real-world deployment requirements and huge geographical challenges the Air Force faces, PACAF has a critical need for leading-edge GI&S support that enables better enterprise installation management and forward deployment," said Gene Ray, Titan's chairman, president, and chief executive officer.

Headquartered at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, Pacific Air Forces is one of nine major Air Force commands. It covers more than 100 million square miles, extending from the west coast of the United States to the east coast of Africa and from the Arctic to the Antarctic. The command has approximately 45,000 military and civilian personnel serving in nine major locations and numerous smaller facilities, primarily in Hawaii, Alaska, Japan, Guam and South Korea.

Titan provides information and communications systems solutions and services to the Department of Defense, intelligence agencies and other federal government customers. The company employs 10,500 and has annual sales of about $1.5 billion.
