SAIC wins $48 million NASA space work

Science Applications International Corp., San Diego, has won a $48 million contract to support NASA's next generation space vehicles, the company announced May 27.

Under this four year contract, SAIC will provide vehicle and systems engineering as well as services in scheduling, configuration management, risk management and financial planning.

"This important win places SAIC in the center of human-rated spacecraft design and systems engineering and integration services," said Sam Boyd, an SAIC senior vice president for program operations.

The work will be done for NASA's Space Launch Initiative program. This program's mission is to build space vehicles that can transport crew to and from the International Space Station and well as to other spacecraft.

Members of the SAIC team include Muñiz Engineering Inc., Houston; GeoControl Systems Inc., Houston; W de Y Associates Inc., Houston; and Prairie View A&M University, Prairie View, Texas.
