Northrop expands Texas deal
Northrop Grumman Information Technology has won a six-year contract from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice to manage the department's data center operations.
Northrop Grumman Information Technology has won a six-year contract from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice to manage the department's data center operations, the company announced Feb. 11.
The contract has a potential value of $33.8 million, the company said.
The work will be performed at the West Texas Disaster Recovery and Operations Center located on the campus of Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas.
Northrop Grumman IT, the information technology division of Northrop Grumman Corp. of Los Angeles, manages the state's data center under a contract with the Texas Department of Information Resources.
Through the center, the company offers full data center outsourcing, disaster recovery, applications and desktop seat management services to all state agencies, universities and local governments.
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice operates prisons, other state correctional facilities and the parole system. It also provides funding and oversight of adult probation. It is the seventh state agency to outsource its data center operations to Northrop Grumman.
Other agencies that have contracted with the company are Texas Education Agency, Texas Workers' Compensation Commission, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Texas Mental Health and Retardation Department, Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission and Angelo State University.
